Jan his tool is not going to work, it depends on the BIOS. The only way to change the brightness to try and change the brightness when before ArcaOS is loaded (BIOS screen is displayed). But the keys might not even work anymore. Some of the older laptops have this functionality build in the BIOS ...

Reading the tickets in mantis.arcanoae.com it seems they have a new ACPI they are working on it.
No clue when its released. You can always try it when its creleased. But did you open a ticket for your mainboard ?
