OS2Voice is asking for input for the location and date of Warpstock Europe 2020. We would prefer a location that is easy to reach by public transport. (air and train) We prefer a date somewhere around the last two weeks of May. There are some holidays in this period and e would like to know if we should plan in hose holidays or outside of them.Please make your suggestions before the end of July.

Switzerland is a bit too expensive. Offennbach may be a very good location, close to Frankfurt. Another possible location is Hamburg. Voice is inclined to organise Warpstock Europ this year in Germany because most of the private users of OS/2 and it's successors are in Germany. However, this means that we need local support in finding a location that can accommodate us for a fair price Someone who will do the legwork.( Warpstock runs at a small loss, covered by Voice, but we'd rather put your money in software development). The fallback location will be Utrecht like last year. I'd very much appreciate it if anyone in Germany would want to do part of the organising for us, i.e. finding and booking a suitable location, agreeing with a nearby hotel on discounts for participants, guidelines for public transport from airport the the location, usw.
Back in the day local user groups would take care of all this. These days are long gone. Still we hope for some help and input.
(And yes, Sigurd, Cologne is certainly an option too, and we are well aware of your organisational skills).

Ob ich dabei sein kann weiß ich noch nicht, werde es aber versuchen. Ich hatte auch schon einmal angeregt, evtl. nicht den Mai sondern den Juni zu nehmen, da dort weniger Feiertage (sprich auch Brückenfeiertage) als im Mai sind.

Nun ist gerade der 16./17.05.20 kein verlängertes WESigurd hat geschrieben: Mi 18. Dez 2019, 11:40 Ich hatte auch schon einmal angeregt, evtl. nicht den Mai sondern den Juni zu nehmen, da dort weniger Feiertage (sprich auch Brückenfeiertage) als im Mai sind.
Und von Ostern bis Nikolaus ist eh Dauer-Feriensaison, da kriegt man nie alle zusammen...So ist für mich genau dieses Wochenende schon seit Monaten ausgebucht (nichtmal Ferien...), Pech jetzt.

mit der Terminfindung und verlängerten Wochenenden ist es ja nun ein endloses Thema: Ich denke immer gerade an verlängerten Wochenenden neigt man doch eher dazu sich etwas anderes als die Warpstock vorzunehmen wodurch lange Wochenenden, zumindest mir, eher ungeeignet erscheinen. Zum anderen sind am geplanten Wochenende in keinem deutschen Bundesland Ferien. Also von dieser Seite beste Ausgangsbedingungen.
Zum anderen ist Frankfurt von allen deutschen Städten in 4 h mit der Bahn erreichbar und hat den größten deutschen Flughafen.
Es liegt nun nicht zuletzt auch ein bißchen an den Forumsmitgliedern, für gute Besucherzahlen zu sorgen.

Ich werde ebenfalls alles mögliche versuchen, um Dabeisein zu können - und dann auch wenn es klappt gerne dafür etwas vorbereiten.

The OS/2 VOICE board is pleased to announce Warpstock Europe 2020. The event held in Europe where that you can visit to be informed about the latest developements regarding OS/2 and ArcaOS.
The event will be held in the youth hostel in Frankfurt Germany on Saturday 16 and Sunday the 17th of May 2020.

Das mit dem Buchen wird schwierig. Es sind in der JH Frankfurt aktuell nur noch vier 4-Bettzimmer frei von FREITAG bis Sonntag.
Wenn wir vier zusammen bekommen, bin ich dabei.
Ich fahre aber gleich bis 30.12. weg bin schlecht erreichbar.
