I tried and could use "playrec /i:2 /o /sp test.wav"to record from my usb audio device.

For that to work I needed to specify the "/i:2" parameter to address my usb audio device.
This corresponds with the suffix 02 of its Ampmix02 and Waveaudio02 multimedia addresses.

There is a test version of sane that works well on my system. It uses the libusb-1.0 port to OS/2 from Paul Smedley.
It is libusb-1.0.16-rc6-20130525.zip with sane-1.0.23-os2-20130426.zip and scanimage-20130525.zip

I must say that I don't use any office software, but may be this will work for you ...

Lars Erdmann is working on an improved usbmsd.add driver. Its latest version is contained in usbdrv199.zip on hobbes. It reports a fake volume to lvm for usb sticks formatted as large floppy fat32. May be that works for you.

I could send my latest version of usbcalls.dll and usbresmg.sys for you to try out. I'll send it to your private email address that I have. I rather not post it here because the proper documentation is not finished yet. So you'll have to keep it to yourself.
